Tracking drum life is essential because of drum wear and the potential for overflow from the hp 4600dtn toner hopper if the photosensitive drum life is extended past its useful life. Step 5: Development The areas on the photosensitive drum that have been exposed to the laser beam have a higher potential are less negatively charged than the toner particles on the developing cylinder.
